Drawing Eyebrows

How to draw effective Eyebrows!

Drawing tips help to define the important basics of a specific technique or can help to give us essential insight into the possible pitfalls we might encounter whilst working on our chosen projects. If we adhere to these drawing tips, we can save ourselves a lot of trouble and time and make less errors en-route but drawing tips are essentially there as a guide only, and they shouldn?t stave off our will to experiment as many artists learn through trial and error.

There are many drawing tips available for any artist interested in portraits and one element which is often forgotten is how to draw eyebrows. Many of those who have their portraits done, will have hair that covers their eyebrows sufficiently enough for you to not have to worry too much but it is important that on those occasions when the eyebrows are clearly revealed, that you observe the following drawing tips:

-Remember that the eyebrows aesthetically frame the eye; they do also without doubt add character to that persons face. Although they are the most under-stated part of any features, they are important when it comes to the portrait.

-The eyebrows also enable the artist to reveal a specific emotion or facial expression, for example a raised eyebrow can give a quizzical look and if this facial expression is a common occurrence, this can dramatically help your portrait to resemble the person you are defining.

-It is important to study the eyebrows intently. Are they in a defined line or a rambling mass of hair that does not appear to follow a pre-defined pathway across the brow? Once you are aware of the proportions of the eyebrow in comparison with the eye, you will be able to commence drawing.

-Take time to draw each hair in the direction that they grow and don't rush.

These are just the main drawing tips which should be considered, but as with any drawing subject, practice makes perfect. Even if your drawing technique is really good, it is worth feeling really confident about specific subjects before starting out properly.

Just remember that there is a wealth of information and drawing tips available, take these on board but do not be afraid to experiment.
