Rc Wheelies

RC wheelies are probably the most basic of tricks that you can perform with an RC car or truck. Despite almost every RC toy or model being capable of performing an RC wheelie for a brief moment of time, it does require a bit more skill to sustain or hold that stunt for a meter's, or more, distance. While under ideal conditions, any RC car or truck can perform an RC wheelie, it is vital that you understand the relation between traction, tyres and the surface on which you run the vehicles.

People have been trying stunts with cars since the time they were made durable enough to withstand force at some level. It was just a matter of time before people began implementing it in RC models and toys, an arena which attracts people of all ages. Exactly when the first RC stunt was performed, may not be quantifiable but since 1956, numerous events have involved RC hobbyists from across the world in events that range from RC airplane races and aerobatics to RC car stunts and high-flying obstacle course races.

Coming to RC trucks and cars, to perform an RC wheelie, you need to, firstly, pick a surface that is conducive to a smooth, traction-free ride such as Asphalt or even textured concrete. To perform a wheelie in the most basic of ways, just give a short burst in reverse followed immediately by full-forward thrust. The backwards momentum of the rear tyres pulls the front ones up when the car moves ahead. The trick normally works with most RC cars but in case you don?t get the desired result, just try to tighten the slipper clutch or the spur gear near the rear wheel.

Normally, you might have some problems holding a wheelie with an RC toy as they, sometimes, lack the firepower needed to push the car. While most model RC cars can perform the RC wheelie quite easily, it does require specialized vehicles to be able to hold the wheelie for long periods.

Many RC monster trucks, stadium trucks and other specialized trucks can perform RC wheelies without much difficulty, and without specialized setups. You will find that these types of vehicles have enough power output to give you a wheelie whenever you want. Sometimes, warming up the engine beforehand helps a bit while RC wheelies on a brand new engine, without breaking it in, is a strict no.

Softening the suspension can help loosen up the wheels to bounce a lot more. This bounce can help you get the front end in the air.

Wheelie bars are some driving aids that allow you to perform an RC wheelie without too much trouble. These bars provide a stable support to the rear wheel by being attached to the rear-bumper of the bottom of the chassis. Made of plastic or rubber, these wheelie bars are available in all sizes. Wheelie bars ensure that on giving too much throttle during an RC wheelie, the RC car doesn't flip due to too much power. Wheelies can also be done on grass provided you have a good 4x4 RC truck or truggy at your disposal.

While wheelie bars are the most effective way of launching into an RC wheelie, only practice can make you perfect in your quest to get these perfect, long and beautiful RC wheelies. Just make sure that you aren't on a curvy track 'cause you can't steer when your wheels are in the air during an RC wheelie.
