Rc Model Boat
Pick the right RC Model Boat!
An RC model boat is a great way to venture into a new area of radio controlled models. With a wide range of options to choose from based on the engines, assembly requirements and design, you are guaranteed to have loads of fun with an RC model boat. Irrespective of whether you are looking for a leisure-time activity or competing with other owners, you will have a blast when you get an RC model boat.
Picking an RC model boat is dependent on a few criteria.
The first is your experience with RC models as a whole. If you have had prior experience with RC Cars or RC Aircraft at any level, an RC model boat will be a cinch. The level of your experience will determine whether you should go for RTR - Ready to Run Models, an almost Ready-to-Run model or RC Model Kits. While each requires a certain level of assembly, you should go for the latter versions if you are looking to spend some time building your model.
Building your RC model boat is also an interesting part of the hobby and for many, it is the sole purpose of dwelling in this RC Hobby. Taking anywhere between a few hours to a few weeks, you should pick the RC model boat based on the assembly time you are looking at.
Your RC model boat will have the option of running on electric engines and gas- or nitro-powered engines. While electric RC model boats are relatively simple and require just basic levels of maintenance, you will be required to put in a lot more effort to run your RC Nitro and Gas Boats.
Gas- or nitro-powered RC model boats run on an internal combustion engine and even though the engine capacity (cc) is miniscule compared to what you have on bikes and even mopeds, these 1.5 cc or above engines are enough to get you speeds of upto 40kmph or more, depending on the model you own.
While some people will pick an RC model boat for their days out by the lake, others look to compete against racers, in competitions held by clubs around the world. If you are the first type, an electric RC model boat will do just as well as anything else out there. However, if performance is your driving force, then you really need a gas- or nitro-powered RC model boat.
Designs of RC model boats have evolved over the years. Today, you can easily find scale models of large ocean liners as well as luxury yachts. Depending on how much you are willing to spend on your RC model boat, these designs will be more precise and realistic. In some cases, you can even buy RC model boats with moving parts such as functioning gun-turrets, interior lights or other moving parts.
Your RC model boat will come with its own set of instructions to help you get through the build and running stages. If you are looking for something more challenging, you can always create your own design, buy raw materials and set about building your very own, customized, RC model boat.
Whether you are looking to build them for your own pleasure, compete with others, spend time with friends or family or just looking to sell them, you are guaranteed loads of hours of fun with your RC model boat.
