Sweet Milk Chocolate Cake Ingredients
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
3 cups cake flour
2 cups sugar
½ cup butter
150 g milk chocolate (about 5 squares)
½ teaspoon of salt
20 ml (or 4 teaspoons) of baking powder
For the cocoa icing
1 cup castor sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg white
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 tablespoons cream
2 teaspoons melted butter
This delicious sweet milk chocolate cake recipe will make a large loaf. Alternatively you could divide the ingredients into two and bake in separate round cake tins with removable bases. But then you need to watch more carefully because the cake will probably cook more quickly, because there will be less batter in each tin.
Anyway, decide what you are going to do, and grease your loaf tin or separate cake tins, and preheat your oven to 180 °C.
Get yourself a nice big mixing bowl and cream the butter until it is nice and fluffy. Then add the sugar a little bit at a time, until it is all blended. In another bowl, sift the flour, salt and baking powder together.
Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until they are stiff. Melt the chocolate. Then add the egg yolks and the chocolate to the butter and sugar mixture. Add the milk, little by little, beating as you do so. Mix in some of the dry ingredients and the rest of the milk. Then mix in half the beaten egg white and the rest of the dry ingredients. Fold this in before adding the balance of the egg white. Mix without beating.
Pour the batter into the tins you are using and bake for about 45 minutes.
If you are planning to ice the cake, first add the sugar and cocoa to beaten egg white. Then add vanilla, melted butter and the cream. Work this mixture all together to make a nice, smooth icing that you can spread over the cake.
Remove and allow the cake to cool before icing your yummy sweet milk chocolate cake.
