A must, your own Home Improvement Tools!

Home improvement tools are a must for any DIY enthusiast. Available in a many levels of complexity as well as cost and size, you need to first have some background knowledge before you buy any home improvement tools. Since some of these tools could be dangerous, you should also be aware about the safety precautions you need to take with each type of home improvement tool.

Whether hand tools or power tools, there are different types of tools that are must for every kind of home improvement project. Now before we begin on the work tools, you need to be sure you have all the safety equipment you will need while using these tools. These include safety goggles, masks, ear protectors, or any other recommended gloves or clothing. They might not be immensely comfortable, but they might just save your life.

Now, like mentioned earlier each project has its own set of must-have tools. For example, if you are taking up a painting project then you will need paint brushes, rollers, round-cornered sponge, an extension pole, roller pan, tape measure, painter's tape, utility knife, brush extender and much more. But there are some basic tools that you need to have in your toolbox at all times. These not only come handy for home improvement projects but also in other DIY projects and repair and maintenance around the house. This includes, an 8 or 16 ounce curved-claw hammer, which is perfect for inserting or removing nails, adjustable pliers, either 6, 8, 10 or 12 inches long, a set of screwdrivers, or just one combination screwdriver with assorted tips, an adjustable wrench and a basic multimeter for testing electrical voltage.

Now these were just the basics, but if you are looking for some specialized work then a hand or power drill, complete with assorted bits to drill through wood, metal or even plastic, a hand, hack or power saw, a measuring tape, a retractable blade utility knife, a wire stripper and a socket wrench are some good investments. These tools are some of the most commonly used tools for home improvement projects. Some additional basic painting supplies should set you up for many projects.

But some of these tools, such as the power drill and the power saw are all dangerous tools, and without proper knowledge on usage and safety, these should not be used. Be patient and read up all the guidelines given to you with the tool and be sure you have understood each point before attempting to use these. Apart from that you need to maintain you tools well, be sure they are stored in dry places, as moisture can cause a whole set of problems, in case of certain tools, be sure to oil joints, especially for hand tools, and most importantly keep dangerous tools out of reach of children. Nothing can make a home improvement project work faster and more efficiently than the right home improvement tools.
