Everyone thinks of yoga as being just a unique set of exercises which works at stretching, toning and conditioning the body, but yoga is about much more than that.  It is a complete mind and body experience and yoga for stress management is a vital part of the systems overall benefits.

Without a doubt we all live in a very stressful and manic society where we are under pressure constantly, but by incorporating yoga for stress management as an integral part of our daily lives, we are able to reduce the negative side effects that comes hand in hand with a stressful existence.

By practicing yoga regularly, everyday if possible, the benefits to health and to our general wellbeing is numerous. Even better, these benefits are often so visible that others can’t help but notice it. Yoga for stress management is a matter of believing in the postures, focussing on the breath, and preparing for meditation, as these simple but effective tools will help us to be able to regain control of our lives and learn to adapt to stressful situations without being controlled by them.

Yoga can help to:

- Lower the heart rate
- Reduce high blood pressure
- Help improve sleep
- Eases out muscle tension
- Increase clarity of mind
- Reduces cortisol levels within the body

Of course, there are an abundance of other benefits and these benefits simply keep on increasing as our yoga practice continues. As practitioners we just have to remember that yoga is about union, union of our minds, body and spirit, so we work with our body and not against it. There will be days where we do not feel like practicing, or our muscles feel tense and tight, there will be days where our minds are filled with self- doubt and we find it difficult to free our minds and this is where we need to concentrate instead on our practice session.

The days we experience the most difficulty, are the days where we possibly stand to gain the most benefits as this helps our determination and sense of discipline towards reaping the benefits of the simple, yet effective yoga techniques, incorporating yoga for stress management will help us to change our lives forever.
