RC robots taken robot toys to a different plane altogether. At a time when there were only pre-programmed toys that performed basic movements and functions, RC robots have revolutionized the world by bringing about a level of control that was previously unimaginable. While programmable and controllable robots have been in use in daily life for quite a long time now, in factory assembly lines and more, RC robots have created controllable versions of these machines, ones that require no special expertise.
Radio Control, as a toy, has been in use since the middle of the 20th century. Commercial RC Manufacturers mainly stayed on the safe turf of RC Cars, RC Plane and RC Boat, while only a few manufacturers ventured beyond the realm of these standard vehicles. Although the first mention of robots and robotic laws date back to 1921, when a Czech play demonstrated humanoid forms, or robots, for the first time, the first robot, a computer operated hand, was developed only in 1961 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since then, many universities have gone on to create specialized institutes for the study of robotics whereas RC robots have become a popular toy amongst enthusiasts as well.
Since the early days, RC robots have taken up an important role in society by carrying out functions that have been humanly improbable. RC robots have been generally limited in their capabilities as they have been created to solve particular purposes only. For e.g. assembly line robots have been created to repeat the same activity over and over again. Similarly, many remote controlled robots have been used by explorers & scientists, to reach places where man could not have gone himself. The most common examples are the Dante I & II (used in Antarctic expeditions) and the Pathfinder missions on Mars.
On a more commercial level, RC robots have mainly concentrated on doing a few basic movements such as walking, basic speech, moving arms, etc. while they have also carried out certain specialized jobs such as serve drinks, sweep floors and so on. Using a remote controller, the user has been able to direct the robot to perform the pre-programmed tasks. By combining the various actions on the remote, the user can extract unique tasks/actions from the robot.
In modern times, there have been a lot of advances that have allowed people to not only play with RC robots, but also to build them in their own garages. With the right tools, and some basic equipment, RC robots can be created in your own backyard and you can choose to make them perform tasks depending on what you please. All you need are the wheels, the motor and the motorized arms to enable them to perform various actions. You can even install cameras in their eye-slots to record the view that they see while running.
Battles between robots have become an interesting and common sport with clubs popping up across the world. Arenas are created wherein obstacles and hazards are placed and the objective of the sport remains to destroy the opponent?s robot, either by forcing them into a hazard, or by damaging them with weaponry.
Whether it is to build RC robots or to fight them, this hobby can be extremely enjoyable as you go about finding ways to make your robot perform unique tasks. Not only is the robot's capability at test in this hobby, the creator also learns numerous things about the way robots perform and not to mention, electronics. Building RC robots are an incredible way to spend time with your kids while doing something meaningful and constructive with your time.
So whether it is to spend time with family, or to construct something that will help you around the house or just to bash up another machine, quality time is what is offered to you by RC robots.
