Auxiliary languages are meant to make communication easy, around the world. In 1900 when the World Exhibition was held, people from all over the world attended it and the difference in languages was eminent. The delegation came out with a consensus that with globalization gaining increasing popularity it was becoming very difficult for people around the world to communicate. Different parts of the world have different languages and so there were increasing needs to develop a language, which could be a part of communication between people who have different native language, while not trying to super cede the native language. These languages have also been termed as auxlangs. English is one of such auxlangs.

Any language being coined as an auxlang needs to satisfy the needs of science as well as commerce of daily life, also the language should be easy to grasp especially by people with average education. Most importantly it should not be an extinct language.

There are various ways of propagating this language. One of the approaches being, that the strongest language and will be accepted by the maximum countries. Another being, that the language accepted by national and international legislature as their official language, will be considered as auxiliary.

Many proposals have been circulating around the world on choosing pictorial languages as auxiliaries. The options in this category range from Chinese to the recent Blissymbol. A lot of work has already been put together to standardize the electric and traffic symbols all across the world for ease of communication when travelling.

The concept of auxlangs has gained popularity among the deaf, who have developed an auxiliary language for themselves. Earlier this International language for the deaf was called Gestuno. Work on this language has been on since 1973.

So far the idea has been accepted and dejected by many, however the question still remains whether such a language will ever be developed. For any language to be announced as an auxiliary it has to accepted by the entire world, not an easy task. All around the world second languages are studied to get a better job or for other prospects, but getting the world to learn this language for better clarity is going to be difficult, to say the least.
