Porcelain and glass collectibles come in a wide variety of styles, and are mostly popular for the breathtaking beauty all of them possess. Be it art glass collectibles, collectible porcelain dinnerware, or even collectible glassware, these delicate porcelain and glass collectibles have enthralled collectors all over the world. In fact, restaurant ware collectibles and art pottery collectibles have also been included under porcelain and glass collectibles, as they are quite popular with the newer crop of collectors.

Before you begin collecting, you will need to decide on the category of porcelain and glass collectibles that you wish to collect. Once you know what you are collecting, you will need to do extensive research on it. Especially as items such as art glass collectibles and collectible porcelain dinnerware, are available in such a wide variety, you will need to be able to distinguish between fakes, as well as date valuable pieces. You will also need to learn about the different varieties of glass, such as Victorian glass, Vaseline glass, frosted glass, cranberry glass and many others, as well as porcelain.

For this purpose, you could refer to variety of books, such as 'Antique glass and Glass collecting', by Frank Davis, or 'Chats on Old Glass: Glass Collector's Book', by R. A. Robertson, and many others. For porcelain collectibles, the book, 'Belleek': 'The Complete Collector's Guide and Illustrated Reference', by Richard K. Degenhardt, is a great start. Also there are collector groups, like Promotional Glass Collectors Association, or China International Association of Collection, which has a separate Porcelain Collection Department, which give out extensive information to members.

Once you are sure of your research, start attending auctions, both online and offline, also visit numerous shows, held regularly in most places. Here you can study the best porcelain and glass collectibles, and learn from experts. Also various items such as art pottery collectibles and restaurant ware collectibles, can be found in a wide variety, and it is best to go to specific shops or dealers, who will be able to help you locate exquisite pieces.

Since porcelain and glass collectibles are usually quite fragile, extensive care must be taken while storage. They also tend to get dirty quite fast, and hence regular cleaning is a must. Most collectors like to display their porcelain and glass collectibles, if you wish to do so, make sure the display case is closed, to avoid dust, and is strong enough to hold your expanding collection. Once you are sure of the basics, you will take no time in becoming an expert on porcelain and glass collectibles.
