Clue is one of the most successful mystery board games in the world. A detective game in which each player plays a particular character, who is a guest in a mansion, owned by either Dr. Black or Mr. Boddy, Clue begin when the owner is found murdered. Each player has to now solve the mystery of his death. Engaging players with interesting details, well hidden clues and an intriguing plotline, Clue is a popular with people of all age groups.

This game originated in Britain in the year 1949 and was created by a retired solicitor clerk, Anthony E. Pratt. Clue is a very intriguing and adventurous game and it is hard to believe that this game is almost sixty years old as it is a hot favorite even today. Both Mr. Pratt and his wife were very interested in murder mysteries and that’s what inspired them to create this game. The actual idea of this game had come to Mr. Pratt in the year 1944 but it took him several more years to innovate and perfect it to its current form. After getting a patent from the UK patent authorities (who actually played the game before confirming the patent), this game was officially launched in 1949.

Clue or “cluedo” as it is called in Britain, is not your everyday board game. This game transforms you into a character. Based in a mansion, players unravel many stories as they play the game. The task of finding clues from these stories and subtle hints, as well as the murderer, the killer weapon and the place where the murder happened is truly entertaining to say the least. But the creator has refrained from telling you the motive behind the murder of the mansion owner. This is one mystery that has not been solved for the last sixty years and probably never will be.

Today, clue is played in many versions; it is sold all over the world and has been translated into many languages. Another variation is the virtual version of Clue where you play the game online. This online version of Clue has given this game a whole new dimension. The amazing graphics in the game and the innovative set-ups keep the players glued to the game. There are many online sites where you can sign up to play clue. These sites allow you to interact with other people and play with them. There are many different editions of Clue also in the market today. Besides online, you can play clue on your gaming consoles also like the play stations, Nintendo Wii, etc. No matter which version of Clue you choose to play, you are sure to have a great time with this detective game.
