Translated from the Latin word ‘divinere’ which means ‘to be inspired by a god’, the subject of divination has always been a fascinating one and there are many ardent enthusiasts who now openly practise any one of a variety of methods which belong to this category.

People have always been attracted by the unknown and there are those who attempt to foretell the future by interpreting signs or omens, either for themselves or for others, but divination is much more than this as it is also a way of attempting to reveal the past, present and future by using various tools associated with the chosen method of use. Practitioners do this because our pasts are intrinsically linked to our futures and therefore can reveal so much more.

There are those practitioners who claim to have had much success with their preferred method although sceptics tend to view divination as mere superstition and although divination has been practised throughout history the world over, there have been times when the act of dabbling in these arts would have been viewed as a considerable crime.

Although these ancient arts have never really lost their popularity, nowadays with the easy accessibility of information on the subject, either through books, the internet or by studying courses, the subject matter appeals to so many more people and each practitioner interprets the signs given in a unique manner. There is certainly something intriguing about studying a subject where the origins are still shrouded in mystery, and it may be that it is the thought that we can potentially tap into some inner force or power which connects us with the energies of the universe that makes divination so appealing.

For whatever reason, these simple methods continue to thrive and some of the more commonly known practices include: Astrology, Dowsing, Scrying, Tarot Card Reading, Numerology, Dream Interpretation, I Ching, Palmistry, Graphology, Tea Leaf Reading etc.
